“I am really glad to see IBSB embark on the HPL journey. The IBSB teachers have consistently offered my son tailored support and stimulation. I am glad to see the school raising the bar on itself and I look forward to seeing the fruits and benefits of HPL!” – Year 2 parent
High Performance Learning
A powerful idea
High levels of educational performance are for the majority not the minority. There is room at the top for all pupils at IBSB. We believe all students can be high performers.
By systematically teaching our pupils the skills and attributes they need to be High Performance Learners motivating them to improve, leading enquiry based learning, involving parents in the journey, and working with our pupils to challenge and support them as and where needed.
How Great Learners Behave
We teach our pupils the values and attributes designed to ensure students are ready to learn, ready to work, but equally important – ready for life in a world that is changing and challenging.
How Great Learners Think
We teach our pupils how to think, so that if they do not understand something YET, they know they have the skills and confidence needed to achieve their goals.
“I have enormous respect overall for the amount of hard work, passion and dedication the teachers at IBSB put into their work. The foundation is strong: the IBSB values truly underpin learning. In our 5 years journey so far with IBSB, I as a parent have also learnt a lot, most notably about the growth mindset and resilience.” – Year 5 parent
Opportunities
English as an Additional Language (EAL)
Many of our pupils join us with limited or no English. Our dedicated EAL Team are extremely successful in providing the basic language skills needed to learn in an English Speaking environment. In just a short few months, you will see the results.
Extra-Curricula Activities
We pride ourselves on the diversity of our club programme. From karate to yoga, from debate to graphic design, from chess to mindfulness, your child can choose a different programme each term to discover a future lifelong passion.
Events & Shows
Our pupils love to perform and we ensure they have plenty of opportunities to shine. Last year, our junior school choir sang with over 8,000 other primary school children at London’s O2 Arena as a celebration of Young Voices. We were the only International School to perform that evening- we even sang on the plane on the way over.
Competitions
We strongly encourage involvement in local and international competitions, from maths to public speaking to football and swimming, and everything else in between.
“I asked my daughter many times if she likes school and her answer is always yes. The positive attitude comes from committed and caring school staff, incredible students, and supportive parents. IBSB it’s more than a school, it is a family!” – Year 5 parent
Community
A Partnership
We know that you trust us with the most precious thing in your lives, your child, and we work to ensure you are a part of their journey. We welcome our parents as partners, building trust as we work together toward a common goal.
Charity and Community Action Service
We actively engage with our charity partners to raise awareness and funds to help those in need, teaching our children the gift of humility and gratefulness, whilst having some fun along the way.
Community Support
We encourage members from the wider school community to enrich our curriculum, offering valuable learning opportunities both on and off campus. School trips and special visitors are a regular occurrence for our students, helping to connect our classrooms to the local community and the wider world beyond.
