MAT Coordinator Message

Hello young learners! Have you ever wondered how IBSB supports and nurtures students who show exceptional skills or talents? Let me explain my role and how we identify and support students who excel in various areas.

My role is similar to a detective! I am always on the lookout for students who demonstrate exceptional abilities in the wide range of subjects we offer at IBSB whether it is mathematics, science, art, music or sports. I work with teachers, parents and even you, the students, to identify your unique talents and identify areas where you might need extra challenges.

Throughout this year we have used Action Research as an evidence-based approach to enhance educational practices for more able children in Primary School. This allows us to identify the specific needs, strengths and interest of more able children in their classrooms. By conducting research within the classroom setting, teachers are able to use this data and insights to support these students effectively. One of the main benefits of this is to empower students to take ownership of their learning, develop critical thinking skills and become partners in their education.

One of my favourite aspects of being a MAT Coordinator is finding out about the opportunities children at IBSB have beyond the regular classroom. At IBSB we regularly enter children into a variety of competitions where they can showcase their skills that inspires and stretches their abilities. These activities can expose children to new experiences, enable them to meet other talented students and encourage collaboration and teamwork.

Remember, each of you has unique gifts and talents waiting to be discovered. Embrace your abilities, chase your dreams and let your talents shine bright!
