In what way did you experience at IBSB help to shape you into the person you are today?
IBSB really had a big impact on my view on different things: it changed my mindset into a very positive one, especially because of its international community. The people and the teachers taught me how to be more confident and how to always think outside of the box when having to solve a problem.
Please provide a brief description of some of your treasured memories from your time at IBSB
My most treasured memories will always be the annual UN Days. It not only meant food, but all the shows and traditional costumes made me love the IBSB community even more. As I previously went to a Romanian public school, I was never encouraged to embrace my culture and share it with others, but UN Day was the perfect chance for me to learn more not only about other cultures, but also my own. And in the last year, I even got the chance to be a presenter!
Which IBSB teachers stand out as having a positive impact on your education?
I respect all the teachers from IBSB, as they all taught me different valuable things not only in education, but also in life. Ms. Jayne Baker had the most impact on my student life at IBSB. Ms. Baker helped me with university applications and she also taught me so many life lessons which I am using now. She truly is like a ‘second mother’ to me. Moreover, Mr. Paul Jennings also helped me a lot. He had a positive impact on my confidence in speaking and writing in English.
What skills developed at IBSB proved most useful post-graduation?
I would say the confidence in standing up and saying my opinion. This was something teachers in IBSB always encouraged me to do and it proves to be so helpful in university where there is a much bigger class. Involving myself in discussions during lectures and seminars means using the theories learned and showing this to professors. This is very important in university where there is a bigger class of people.
What subjects did you study at A Level?
I studied Sociology, Business and English Literature.
Which University/Universities did you graduate from/will your graduate from? What Degree/s did you receive/will you receive?
I have currently finished my first year of undergraduate at University of Arts London and I am currently doing the (BA) Fashion Marketing course.
What are you doing now?
I am preparing myself for my second year of university and looking for chances to do internships at a few fashion companies.
